Reggie and The Full Effect Calls It Quits! (updated)

James DeWees of Reggie and The Full Effect recently announced that the band has called it quits:

“sorry kids the joke is over, paying other peoples bills for so long that now i have to pay my own. oh yea and go see coalesce on their tour. you will see where i came from.”

Within the past few years, we’ve seen this band go through major twists and turns.  Their lastest album was rejected from their record label, Vagrant, for being too different than different releases.  Those who have heard it describes it as more of a heavy Coalesce sound than the traditional poppy Reggie sound.  The band also posted a new song on their MySpace site, but the song was taken down only hours later, either by the band or the label.

In addition, their MySpace presented statements such as:

“the scene is in a rut everybody its time for some changes”

and

“something youve never heard before. except for fools on major labels ripping me off. if you dont believe me ask the band. originality is not a commodity in this scene anymore.”

Seems like James, who has also played keyboards for The Get Up Kids, New Found Glory, and My Chemical Romance, became a Hardcore kid who got jaded from a scene he was forced to be part of.

So be sure to check out Coalesce when they hit your town. Here are some upcoming tour dates:
